Paradise Lost: Legacy Edition
Available for pre-order on September 4th! Shipping in mid-November.
We are so thrilled to announce that Paradise Lost: Legacy Edition will be available for pre-order on September 4th! It features a fantastic introduction by Dr. Leland Ryken.
First published in 1667, John Milton's narrative poem presents an epic sweep of salvation history centered in the Garden of Eden. Through the retelling of the story of Adam and Eve, Milton addresses the origin of evil and suffering in the world and God’s redemptive dealings with mankind.
Our Legacy Edition is neither abridged nor modernized and includes explanatory notes in the margins. We scanned 50 of Gustave Doré's dramatic wood-engraved illustrations, and Stephen Crotts designed a classic cloth cover with gold foil. Come back on September 4th to see the full cover reveal!
F.A.Q.
When will Paradise Lost arrive?
The Paradise Lost books are currently being printed and are scheduled to arrive in mid-November. If all goes as planned, these should arrive on your doorsteps between late November and early December.
If your order contains a pre-order item, it will ship together in November. Please place separate orders if you'd like other books to ship sooner.
What age is Paradise Lost for?
Paradise Lost is typically recommended for high school, college, and beyond.
It is a challenging work in English literature, yet as Dr. Leland Ryken shares:
"Paradise Lost is a demanding poem, but it is not inaccessible. Anyone who applies the tips presented in the foregoing introduction will find the poem easier to master than at first it seems. It is a poem that will repay all of the attention we give it."
Is there nudity in any of the Paradise Lost illustrations?
Several of Gustave Doré's vintage wood engraved illustrations depict Adam and Eve in their pre-covering state in Garden of Eden.
We have modified these illustrations by placing plants and other items to cover any clearly naked regions.
